Bugfixes
- Fixed a high-frequency client crash.
- Fixed LC vehicles retaining the speed restrictions of task items they were carrying when they
- Fixed the field supplier cooldown rates being swapped for premium and F2P players.
- Fixed a character migration bug, enabling migration of old RTW characters.
- Enabled new PunkBuster build, to reduce incidences of PB stuttering
- Changed the factional restrictions in the Social District. Everyone can now enter the ground floor of both clubs, but the upper-levels will be off-limits to the opposite faction.
- Adjusted several locations in Financial and Waterfront to improve balance.
- Updated the ‘Whisper’ with temporary VFX and SFX.
- Improvements to HVR Scout (Premium Leased Weapon) - Improved Accuracy regeneration rate significantly. Increased fire rate to make it equal to the HVR-762. Initially we had it lower as to provide a downside to offset the increased mobility. After testing it definitely feels that the inability to 'almost' 1 hit is enough. This really helps it feel much more mobile than previously. It also now retains its accuracy on the move.
- Slightly lowered damage of the NFA-9
- Reduced Reload time on the NFAS.
- Made a few fixes to the spawning system. Now always uses targets from the current mission stage, and uses probable spawn locations for players to weigh spawning for dying players. Still a few fixes left here, but spawning is getting closer to being finalized.
- Localisation/Translation; Much of the new and edited in game text has still to be translated and entered into the game. Playing APB in languages other than English may result in English text being shown anyway in some places.

If that's because we have better machines or just a different location I cannot tell, but your statement is far too vague to respond to. Where are you located, what hardware do you have?

ReplyDeleteJust a question, do you read the "closed beta forums" ? IF you do, you would see a ton of ppl adressing the issues i'm talking about. even a post where ppl posting the hardware specs, and MANY have really good machines.
I live in sweden, and my hardware 4gb ram, core 2 duo 2,66ghz, gforce 8800gt. i dont have a awesome machine, but don't you think i should be able to play on minimum settings ?
well, i CANT. i'm running on the lowest possible settings and still got 15fps in a gunfight, 25 fps while driving.
and i'm not alone. just read the forums please.
I hate to say this Bjorn but you have to admit that the optimization is pretty rough. CPU requirements are just too steep when compared to games like Crysis 2 (Yea I can max Crysis 2 but APB is a little laggy). I don't mind, I trust you guys will fix it up more and more. I love APB, and the Reloaded version you guys have produced so far but please don't say you don't know that there are issues in regards to what has been said because if that's then you must not read the dozens of topics made everyday in CB forums.

ReplyDeleteOK, I see a lot of misunderstanding when it comes to expectation of performance in comparison to visuals.
ReplyDeleteAPB is more taxing than Crysis 2, it looks worse, but it's more taxing. Whenever you have such large maps and such customization abilities, performance will suffer greatly.
Great performance / Great customization.
Choose one.
I have a triple core AMD processor ($70), 4GB of RAM ($40), and a Radeon 5670 ($65), and my performance easily hits 40FPS on medium settings.

Also - our low-end reference machine is a X6800 processor (Dual Core, 3Ghz+)
And yes - we are doing basically a 50 vs 50 game with 250 automous cars and 1000s of NPCs, with far larger maps than Crysis. But of course we are continuing to work on optimization. But the game design itself is far more complex than just the visual presentation would indicate.
If we introduced smaller districts (or scenarios) as we have discussed with 10 v 10 playmodes and similar smaller setups, then the requirements would also drop.
And keep in mind that RAM is critical to this game (and preferably 64-bit processing).

ReplyDeleteI know there are differences in what is stressed between Crysis 2 and APB Reloaded. In the original APB though the game was far more optimized, at least for me and a few of my friends. My game runs min at 25fps so it's playable with my dual core 3.1ghz but if you read the forums there are many people with quad cores who are playing with worse fps then me even having better overall setups.

My own preference is not of dudes (I am more of a ladies-person), but I certainly fully support your choice and right to pick just about anyone you choose. I see lots of outcry about lag and stutter issues. You have to realize your problems are not shared by everyone. Myself for example, the game runs EXCELLENT and im loving every minute of play. I dont get the PB spikes frequently like your saying, i do get the pb LAG spikes that happen NOT VERY OFFEN, and they are server wide, so in my eyes its fair. Everyone lags at once. lol.
ReplyDeleteSome above listed their rig as 4gig ram and a core 2 duo. That is not going to be enough to run a semi open world shooter like this. That is just the fact. In a game like MW2(yuck), the environment is tiny, there are NO variables environment wise, very very little physics involved at all.
Bottom line your computer was current about 4-6 years ago.

others say they were geting a pb cpu lag spike every 30 seconds. I dont get that or anybody i play with. WE DO get the occasional ms jump to 1500 and back down again, but everyone gets it.

We've recently been seeing a lot more 'friends' of people (not in the mission) planting their car on the delivery spot, making the mission effectively unplayable. This was a major issue in the old APB aswell.
Is this being looked into, or would it be possible to find some kind of fix for this? ie: making cars/people planting themselves on the spot killable, or making them explode and die in a fiery blaze?
It's incredibly annoying to have a 10 mission winstreak, and then lose to this, and instantly lose the threatlevel you worked so hard for.

ReplyDeleteI too am loving every moment of my game play, I personally am not seeing some of the lag issues that i see some complaining of, it does take some pretty good specs to run this game but so do all games of this size and scope. Keep up the good work G1 this game has come along way and has so much potential, and if people cant accept that this game is great, and will be even better given some time and love from all of us, then go back to wow and troll over there, they have lots of people over there that can do nothing but whine about stupid crap so go back over with your kid buddies and whine away your sorry lives. ReplyDeleteThat's just the point. When said friend of enemy party not in mission plants car on spot, and stays in the car, you can't destroy it, making you instantly lose the mission.
So no, this is not "issue solved".

Completely remove those sniper rifles from the game would save APB on that front. FACT!
Ahh - Nice to get that one out...
When I play, I very often get laggy and scattering sound. Very annoying, and sometimes hurting my ears.
Also when in close combat with 3 or more players, I often get very bizarre lag spikes and fps drops to, like 8fps. Or so it feels.
Every time I try to browser or set stuff for sale in auction house, Im 100% sure to get crash after 2mins.
Often the graphics on clothings and cars are blurry or pixelated.
And then there is this final thing, Bjorn.
Now that you've said that you, intentionally, allow hackers, cheaters and so on to freely roam the streets of San Paro. Then fix that in-game report button NOW please. Otherwise, how will you know what players to learn from???

hello BJRON.i am a old rtw player and didn't get in the cbt but a friend lets me use his account ,i have found alot of issues and solved some of them.

2.invisable clothing on people(solved by disabling SLI/crossfire)please address this issue when you can
3.i would hope all rtw accounts get active before OBT.(i am gonna buy premium when i get my account)
4.most of my friends got emails ,saying they didnt get in CBT (i didnt even get that)so far i have not got any emails from g1 at all,the only emails i got is from g1 account creation(yea i checked spam folder)and all old emails
5.i opened my ventrilo server to the public so people can chat about issues and i have helped many and tested abp on 10 machines .
and still i have to play on a account thats not mine

The Graffiti bag. !!! when you put graffiti on you the game crashing every 10 min even every 5 min. So I removed it and now I can play 24 hours.
Please fix that bag.
Hey im testing closed beta right now and I am noticing some strange behavior in the driving.
ReplyDelete-Sometimes when I start driving a car it will move extremely slow. When I listen to the sound the car sounds like it never shifts from first gear and moves just like it too. Ive tried repairing the cars that I experienced being affected but it doesn't do anything. In these cases i just have to find a new car but I dont think we should have to?
unless theres an in-game mechanic i dont know about? lol

ReplyDeleteWe as players think it's a bug where the car in question (I've found that it usually happens to the faster cars, like the Cisco) responds as if you're carrying a mission item (which makes the car drive exactly like those bugged cars) It's frustrating, I know. ;_;

ReplyDeleteAnyway, me and my friends has been discussing something, and we all wanted to ask, why it take so long fucking time to load a district.. it really cant take 1 minute to connect to the district server can it? So we came to the solution that it must be because the game is "unpacking some files" for the district... WELL! I have resently smacked 12 TB of HDD space into my pc, and wanted to know (if we are right) is there anyway we can keep these files unpacked at ALL times, so that we can get rid of the insane loading times?
if we are wrong, then "to hell with it"

You do realize that in a free content, open district with content-aware loading, that twenty seconds is absolutely nothing, right?
ReplyDeleteCar Chases are now worthless and meaningless with a big disruption of VIP chase fun. Fixing something that wasn't completely broke has now broke a fun aspect of game-play.
ReplyDeleteThe suspense and excitement of game-play when a vip or carrying a mission item means your essentially a sitting-duck. I can understand the throttle reduction on top-speed for cars, but not only shouldn't acceleration be reduced, I think the bat swung a bit too much to the unfun side as a result.
In addition, you introduced other un-fun issues:
- The solution seems to have introduced bugs into the game, so many cars are now for no reason running slow as though they had a VIP in them.
- The fix encourages roof camping.
Then leaaaave. The game was fine! Don't you understand, by bitching about having more issues we are prolonging the entrance of open beta.

- You'll always have gamers that play like cowards and use exploits that they found and got good at.
- There are more significant issues to worry about then some guy on a roof.

ReplyDeleteIf you ask me it has never been a fix, but a fault from G1's side. Before car chases was really fun. Speeding around town just hoping for your apponent to make a slight mistake.. And the BAM, Car mesh.
Please G1, UN-fix slow cars for VIP's.

ReplyDeleteGood last patch help ;) next thing to deal with is Haxors and lagers i thing best will be kick players who have average ping higer than 170 becouse worse pingers is hard to kill (in counter strike server kicks more than ping 80 ) then i thing 170 is to high but here RUS with 500 pings (some with more than 1000 becouse they teleporting xD ) ant that is mostly unplayable against RUS
I really want to know when APB Reloaded goes Open Beta, or when G1 starts drawing out the people that has entered their email on the APB site... I hate how I missed the beta sign-ups. Fuck my life

It doesn't matter when APB:R goes into open beta, the same issues will still be there, the devs will have to do the same thing, no matter what. Only now, without going into open beta, their simply just loosing players.

and because of the rushing I bet their'd be more crashes again...
They could wait six years to go into OB and people would still complain about the stuff not fixed yet. Ultima Online has been out for 14 years and they still have bugfix patches. There's no such thing as a bug-free program, no matter what your budget or processes.

ReplyDeleteThe game is not optimized very good on any machine. It doesnt matter if you have a quad core or a duel core or a crap load of memory. I have this game on 4 machines 2 quad, 2 duel with memory varying but no less then for 4gigs of ram. Bottem line is this game was never made right. One being that its the unreal engine stretched out into open world (which it wasn't intended to be) The game is hit or miss on peoples rigs and it doesnt help that the servers lag.
That's not true Johnny, it works perfect on my machine. Then again, I don't have a welfare funded PC.

The game is running very smoothly for me. When 1.5 first came out, I was crashing every 5-10 minutes. Now the game runs wonderfully with all settings maxed out. :)

ReplyDelete@JohnnyVigilante The unreal engine works very well on open worlds with the Atlas plugin (Also made by Epic) which I do believe APB uses (could be wrong thouugh). If it doesn't use it then it should.
