Hi guys
We have come across a new player disconnection issue that cropped up in the last 48 hours that has made us put a temporary hold on the launch of Open Beta until further notice. We are releasing a new Closed Beta patch today (patch 84) to further investigate the issue and will evaluate as soon as that patch is live this afternoon PST.
The issue manifests itself in disconnecting some groups of players after one to two hours of gameplay, which clearly is not acceptable in Open Beta.
In the meantime we are looking to our devoted community of Closed Beta testers to continue playing the game so we can continue recording data related to the issue and track down the root cause of this particular service-affecting problem.
If we determine after the next patch that the issue has been resolved, we will then proceed to release the game to the public.
As soon as we have more data we will update the community on Facebook, Blogs and through Twitter.
We are clearly disappointed that this afternoon's public launch has been put temporarily on hold, but in the end we strongly believe that first addressing this issue is the most critical and important step we can take as a development team.
As we have done throughout the entire re-launch we will continue being extremely communicative with the community, and will share any status updates as soon as they become available.
On a positive note, we are also in the middle of preparing a thank you “goodie-pack” of game items to all our Closed Beta players for their efforts over the past two months, and we will release that pack the week after Open Beta is released to the general public.

ReplyDeleteIt doesn't, if you think it is you should not be a beta tester, you should have not taken the key you took so someone that knows the difference could have gotten in. I amm getting of all the sh*t you CB noobs are posting. OB is not a finished polished product, it is a product still in testing. If you can't understand then you should not be beta testing.
Hell, we even know exactly when we will be dced, for a beta tester that is a very minor problem. Oh, it been one hour, time to relog and play on. What none of you seem to get is it is probably a waste of time fixing this DC bug before OB starts, because when OB start new bugs show up and sometimes old ones come back. CB gets the big bugs, OB gets the little bugs, Live is bug free. If you don't get that then stop beta testing and save the keys for people that do.

ReplyDeleteI cant wait as much as anyone else for OB but patience is a virtue. Bugs in the game happens and will get fixed over time. Id get mad to if I disconnected while im doing a mission. So learn some patience and let them do there job.
ReplyDeleteThe special bonus items exclusively for people who participated in Closed Beta are a little upsetting. I signed up for the closed beta (and I paid $50 to play the original APB) but unfortunately I wasn't selected. I understand not everyone could be included in closed beta, and I can deal with that. But it wasn't my decision to be excluded from the closed beta, and the decision to give away exclusive items to the people who were chosen just doesn't seem fair.
ReplyDeleteIt's pouring salt on the wound to give the closed beta players items and tell the people who had to wait an extra month or two to play this game, that the people who were chosen are also going to get cool prizes on top of it. It's especially frustrating when everyone else in your guild is playing the game and having weekly get-togethers that you can't join in.
Love how some CB testers think they're so much better than the rest of the world... They must really enjoy smelling their own farts.

This delay was to be expected... They announced the OB date more than 2 weeks ago, there's no way they could have guarantee there would be no bug or issue (even more so when they release 5 updates in the mean time).
Or seeing how that "pre-open beta" thing never happened.
Anyway, that's just bad communication from G1 (the last thing I'd say about them is that they're being "extremely communicative with the community"...)

Here is what I have to say.
ReplyDeleteA game goes through many stages before reaching the open public:
In house (Quality assurance) testing. This is where the major problems with the game are found by a small team of paid QA employees, or what most know as "Game Testers".
Closed Beta Testing. This is where the unpaid public comes into play, they give out a certain number of positions in the game to the public so the public can help them improve the game. This is NOT just for you to get in and play the game before other people, its for you to help make a difference and improve gameplay.
Open Beta Testing: Open to the public but still a beta version of the game that will need to be improved before high end advertising and what-not are brought to the table to expand the player base.
To all CB testers who think it's funny that people don't get in when you do, grow up already, the world already has enough stupidity going around so lets try not to add to it m'kay?
To everyone who keeps whining and putting the company/game down: What would you say if they decided to just drop the game all together and you waited all this time for nothing? How about you start appreciating all the hard work people have put into the game to try to get it to us?
I myself have not been in the CB of APB Reloaded, however I do appreciate the work that the Dev team and everyone else that has a part in the game has done. What they are currently doing is very acceptable in my eyes, trying to take what would be a giant annoyance to many of you who are impatient out, thus improving the game experience and preventing a large number of people from complaining non stop about being booted every hour and having to re-log.
All in all: Just sit back, have a beer/coffee/tea or whatever you drink, enjoy a different game or conversation with someone, and just wait for them to get it squared away and to open beta.
I love how corporate speak makes up terms like "temporary hold." It's either on hold or not; adding temporary is redundant.

To be clear - the analogy is actually this; hey remember the free ice-cream we were working on getting you on the 18th (and yes - 18 WAS in fact our target), well it turns out that some of it was salmonella infected. We don't want to send you to the loo, so just wait until we get a clean batch in - hopefully in the next couple of days. For those who already ate the bad icecream, do tell us if you got sick or not :)
So - no word yet on the timing to the fix. Right now we have about 50% of districts that have been running without any DC for 5 hours since the patch, the other 50% have HAD a DC in the past 5 hours. That's better than before, but still not within the acceptable range.
I will make a more formal update once we have the next batch of results.
The game is in Beta, you are not playing the game you are testing it. When they decide to fix their issues is their decision alone. If you don't want to participate in the testing aspect of the game. then you do not deserve to not only play closed beta, but open beta as well. When the full game is released is when you can call yourself a player and not a tester.
ReplyDeleteThe purpose of beta is to find a problem and fix it. When OB is released new problems are going to arise, so with that in mind they are trying to solve the problems at hand.
Imagine a network error that disconnects a small group of players in peak hours. All servers could stop if this is a problem of network overload. This may not be a error of the people you are blaming ... You do not know the root of the problem in order to judge them that way.

ReplyDeleteDont mind the trolls and retards...im 100% with G1...in fact i think you guys should delay OB until you fix 3 major issues:
1 - DCs...Players getting disconnect with character lock and instances shutting down
2 - LAG...since the last couple of updates the game is lagging like 3 times more...before updates the game ran smoothly in every aspect...since last couple of updates i constantly get huge lag spikes on client side lowering my FPS down to 0,5 and freezing for seconds...specially on close combat, cars ramming each other and explosions...impossible to play like that...and i have a high end computer and the best fiber optics connection out there so its not a problem on my side...
3 - HACKERS...there is still an enourmous amount of hackers on the game...i know very well how to spot a hacker and a good players...i see a lot of players shooting at 1 target and as soon as a target shows up behind his back he does 180 degree turns and bam bam both targets go down with only a couple of shots...players also killing others in mid air while falling or jumping...players that get to objective and rush towards you previously knowing were you are hiding with even a slighest chance he might have actually seen you...etc etc etc...
So fix all that first then go OB...

We can handle that it may not be perfect right from the get go. Terrible decision to not transition from closed to open beta for such a minor issue.

ReplyDelete@Jaylon0012 No, we shouldn't wait that long, there are 100's of thousands of people that want to play this game right NOW and waiting that long means customers lost for g1 and the game going bankrupt again. The sooner they get the game up, the sooner people like me can play and the sooner they get customers. ReplyDeleteAlso Patch 80 Introduced some problems as well which have yet to be addressed. Before Patch 80 I played for 9-10 hours (me and my brothers combined playtime)without any lag. After patch 80 we start lagging after 3 missions or if a server (instance) has more than 40 users on.
The only good way to eliminate hacks is daily patching of hacks. Otherwise, you will get new hacks a few days after each patch.

Then, there are A LOT of games out there you can play while waiting for an open beta.
Third, An open beta makes office of Demo too. You CANNOT have a gamebreaking bug in it. Someone mentionned it, but a free game opens, you try it and figure out every 5 minutes into the game, it crashes your whole computer. 99% of you guys won't bother trying to solve the problem or even READ on the subject, you'll uninstall the game and go troll on another forum.
Finally, let the pros do their work, stop whining like little kids still living at their parents, and go whine on another forum. They don't need your whining, neither do we.

And one other thing.
You keep saying "I".. Well, not everyone is like you.. Some play for hours a day, and having fun doing it. For some it's an important instrument to relax after work.
So please, get a grip and don't think that your the only one in the universe who's opinion counts. Who are you to judge people. G1 gave a date for Open BETA, and they couldn't hold it.
A shame.. But i really don't think that G1 would release the game before they think it is ready. Otherwise they would have released it already.. Haha
It doesn't really matter... even when they open it, I can bet anything that as soon as it opens, so many people will join that the server will just go down again. xD

It will just end up making people run off to different gam because, like most people here, they will forget the actual meaning of 'Beta' and what it suggests...a game that has bugs, but wont do when fully released.

I myself have only been signed up for a couple weeks at the maximum, others months, but still no newsletter coming in. Are you guys not sending newsletters or is there some kind of mess up? Just wondering.
And by the way, kudos on handling all the flamers/whiners the way you have. I can honestly say I would have lost my composure long ago with the majority of them, you good sir have amazing willpower. ReplyDeleteThats why its called BETA. You're TESTING not getting an early pass to play because you got lucky. You are a guinea-pig, there to tell the devs what's wrong with the game. Even open beta is still BETA. When you see a game with Closed/Open Beta, that means its going to be buggy and glitchy, if you dont like that then move on to another game that ISN'T in any stage of BETA.

ReplyDeleteI would rather they postponed the OB and made it playable again. Seeing how many people that are actually lucky enough to be in the CB are whining in the CB forum about bugs and crashes and how the game needs fixing.
ReplyDeleteWhat people dont seem to get is "YOU ARE A BETA Tester!!!" If it s a bug, report it. If it needs tweaking, report it. If you are unable to perform an ingame action as intented, Report it!

Then, they ignore my support request about APB:R, which has been open now for 2 weeks without any reply!
After that, they say all premium users get there money back from APB:R

ReplyDeleteWe all agree that the people from G1 werent ready for an open beta release. Contact with the outside world = zero.
So... the disconnection issues appeared in the latest patch implemented right before the open beta launch. Now... come on... you had to expect that such problems will arise. My guess is that the programers knew about those issues or the dc bug was in fact implemented. Now, you all ask why... so.. they can check the popularity the game has. How many people will come here waiting for an open bera release, how many people will whine about OB being postponed, how many people will defend the company.. Well if I'm right that was a pretty slick move. If I'm wrong... who cares?
But... seriously who delays a BETA cause of a dc issues? We all know its a BETA. Hell... Live games come with more bugs.

Just some facts for the kids.
1.This game bombed big time first time round, it took a brave company to buy it and bring it back, be more gratefully you little shits.
2.Everyone in at the moment is a beta tester go read what that means, its all about finding bugs and reporting them, helping g1 fix the game, not moan about downtime and swear and abuse the people working hard on getting this game up and running.

@Lone the had issues with a server disconnect problem so they r fixing that. they had to delay the OB. I think the issue will get resolved within the next couple days so just hang tight

poeple really need to remember RTW failed at this game becuase they rushed it, not only was it the higher ups of RTW's fault it was rushed it was also a good part of the fans fault as well for pressuring the game into an early release. infact RTW's apb was a Beta even in its live release meaning yes those who baught and payed to play were paying to play a beta game.

Now, this weekend we decided to do a LAN, playing APB only!
Unfortunately, most of us got our characters locked on a server, due to last nights server and instance shutdown.
So now, our weekend LAN is ruined, unless we get our characters unlocked.
All it might take is a quick server reset. It can't take more then 5 minutes.
We have all bought premium, and therefor I think that we are worth 5 minutes of your time.
So please GamersFirst, reset those servers. Prove that you put the gamers first, and not money first.
And save our weekend LAN. (and all other players trapped in there).

theyre not shooting you THROUGH the walls, its the hitboxes. u can shoot over the wall and still hit someones head. also u can shoot left or right sight if someone is behind a corner. ull see the blood if u test it and actually hit ur target.

I'm old APB player and know lots of thing about this game.. and I can tell for sure there is lots of hackers in this game and they coming and coming like in each district there is minimum 10 hackers....

ReplyDeletei was talking about hitboxes only. the thing with positioning is not everytime cheat. i personally turn cam very often and found guys in corners etc which thought they have a tactical advantage over me in this moment.
also there are teams with voicecommunicationtools and guess what? theyre using this tools to spot enemys and tell the team where theyre at.
there are less real cheaters in the game than u all complaining here right now. its not that bad as u all say. on obeya i rarely see people which own so hard that someone can thing its cheat. but who knows? just play the game and have fun.

and for your info NOOB, OB is normally for stress testing server load and for getting a wide range of hardware configurations, to look high server load and hardware problems, not for the out rite game bugs, like the full district crash, and we cant log back into that district that crashes.

The other company did have beta testing oops and oh well if you missed it. Of course they know they have people ready to play and those very people will be the first ones to complain about dcing all the time and complain more. ReplyDeletethe only beta Noob is you, and you clearly don't understand the different beta phases. now for your info NOOB, OB is just before release, so any game bugs big and small will get posted about on all the mmo websites, but if you know all about beta testing like you say you do, you would know that.
open beta is when website and magazine start doing real story about the game, that will impact the games over all success from release day, if it gets a lot of +++ write ups a lot of players will come, if it gets a lot of --- write ups players will just turn their backs on the game just like the first time.
G1 is doing a great job with OB, yes its delay a little bit, but if you are a real beta tester you would know that a lot of OB get pushed back far longer then a few days, unless you are talking about OB like the one before RTW release of APB? FAILED
but i know your going to keep crying like a little school girl, just like you will about everything in game as you test, if you call that testing.

ReplyDeleteThe hud (also called chamsing in other games) is a part of the graphics engine and would be really hard to fix because the unreal engine is hacked so bad. I agree no chams would've a good thing but I doubt they will be able to remove it. Would take a new engine and it would only be a matter of time until it was hacked.

The disconnects are happening every 5-10 minutes now. The game is now unplayable.

ReplyDeletePeople participating in the CB aren't enjoying this as well, and neither are the developers: I am sure all the CB testers (including me) would like to enjoy the game with their friends or family or whoever else they would like to play with. Sure, it can be fun feeling special, that you've got exclusive access to the CB and all, but you lose that feeling pretty quickly. And before you know it, you would feel like you want the game to expand its user base, and move forward into the open beta -- where you can play with new people from different play styles, and whatnot. That's pretty much how I'm feeling and I'm sure the vast majority of CB testers feel the same way. As for the developers, this is really preventing them from progressing in their testing phase. They only want to move forward and release this game without ANY flaws and/or ANY lacking features -- ALL THIS for the sole purpose of getting rid of the negative feedback that you people would keep giving, had they rush the release of the videogame.
Don't be so damn self-centered, guys. And I have a really strong feeling that there's a lot of people posting comments here that are under 18 but lie about their age simply to play the game --- people simply can't be THIS immature. It's just too obvious.
On a final note, just let the developers iron out this final technical problem IN PEACE, and also leave the CB testers to evaluate the issue -- we all want the CB to come out as fast as possible, folks. It probably won't take more than a week or two. Just be patient.
