This morning we have confirmed the stability of the Los Angeles based servers. We have also confirmed that the server-side frame-rate now is holding steady at much higher levels than in the first part of CB, so we have now been able to bump the district population up by 20% in each district as well.
Based on this, we just sent out the invites to the next 10,000 eligible CB applicants. For those that were included in this wave but who were NOT from US-West locations, keep in mind that you are playing from a long distance and at this stage any lag you see should be network specific.
As I mentioned in the last post, the team in the EU are continuing the work on our datacenter locations, and as soon as that's up and running we will start inviting EU and Russian beta testers whole-sale into the EU location. Right now while most new invites went to North American players, quite a few long-distance players have been also included in this current wave, so just keep in mind the distance to your game server when you participate.
Keep in mind that when you have been enabled you also get automatic access to our Closed Beta forums where you will be able to post about the Closed Beta experience (when your G1 account has been enabled in the Cloaed Beta you will be able to see the Closed Beta Forum links here: http://forums.gamersfirst.com/index.php?showforum=630 )

Yes - just use your G1 account that you used when filling out the Beta Application. If you see any issues, we will have our tech team review any login issues for the new batch.

would be better if you'd restrict beta access to 1 invite per IP because there are people with over 3 accounts and a LOT of people with nothing and if you add up all those extra unused accounts you can make a lot of more people happier

ReplyDeleteI think on of the things causing alot of the frustration with those who havn't gotten them yet is that alot of people are getting more then one from their 'alts' they made to sign up.. and apperently from what i've gather.. majority of beta keys seem to be going out to areas around north US.. I guess might be something relating to server issues but yeah.. just my thought.. though do agree on one thing.. the guys at G1 should keep a eye on IP's from the 'beta sign ups' if possible.. so more people can have a chance instead of one person having a dozen accounts in beta x-x

ReplyDeleteI'd advice people constantly crying that they want to play, those who spent several days spamming refresh, those who celebrate getting an invite etc to go to google and search for information on what BETA is. It's testing, not playing. It's like working without pay to get a game as flawless as possible for release. People doing the above should think twice. Heck some people dont even know how to log in.

ReplyDeleteBeta's aren't just to play around with to see if the game is good or not. They're to make sure the game is perfect and people will enjoy playing it. And really no one cares if you played the first APB I'm guessing they just want people who they can trust and HELP them. Just be patient and wait untill the Open or untill the game releases.

not to put words in their mouth but im pretty sure the reason a lot of folks who tested the last one arent getting in is G1 wants unbiased, un-predispositioned players who weren't previously exposed to the game in order to get input from a fresh audience, again, with unbiased opinion.

I figure a veteran player is more likely to shoot straight for the n-tec dvah/Stabba CCG and the bishada,which means most other items ie NFAS, cellante, etc. aren't going to get as much attention or thorough testing.

You've spent a damn month on them, it's about time to go to Europe or hell, if that isnt working, skip them and go to us east so I can get my damn key, id like to have input on this to improve it before the release!! This honestly is ridiculous, many of us have waited for over a month now only to see that another 10k of the us west gets in.... Very disappointing, this game is past the anticipated stage and has moved into the when the hell are the even going to do anything with it, me and a friend racked up well over 400 hours and we reported plenty of bugs in the previous apb that helped it, I'd figure we would be good candidates but I guess not.

You either keep a CB to a small amount of people, or you head on to Open Beta. Sending out all these keys to CB applicants make them happy but there are lots of people that don't get in, that waited months for this.
The most weird thing here is that the applications go by a first come first serve basis, and my friends and me have some powerhouse PC's here and applied right after we got the emails and still nothing. Seems I should've put in a low-end system then?
And what is the point of letting 10k in CB if you, G1, stated that OB is around the corner already?
I thought you were "gamersfirst" ? i have 2 friends with a shitty connection and some old hardware who just got an invite, but me with crazy hardware and one hell of an epic connection, i DONT GET SHIT! what is up with that "gamersfirst"?

What I find unfair that the key is only the first part. After you recieve a key for some odd reason I have to apply for the beta and use the key?! That's just dumb, once you recieve a key, you should just be able to enter it and play. But oh well, thats life.

ReplyDeleteIt is more like getting the key so that you can send a closed beta application. After that you just have wait until you are invited by Gamers First. THEN you can start playing. The key is only used in the closed beta application.
ReplyDeleteNo key is really required for downloading the game, just download GamersFirst LIVE and make your way from there. The hard part is to log in.

ReplyDeleteActually we have 25,000 people enabled right now. The real problem is that we had over 150,000 people before Feb 15, and today actually have well over 250,000 people interested in the game having submitted their email to us.
So unfortunately, we simply cannot enable that amount of players until we have completed the cycle of testing ALL the different servers, configurations, client types etc.
But that also means that we ensure those who wait will get a MUCH better experience in later Closed Beta or in the Open Beta.

ReplyDeleteLove all the people shouting "check the IPs", so only one person at a lan event or gaming center can play (or heaven forbid they take their computer round a friends to play in the same room as them). I happily have played APB since CB (when RTW owned it) and am now back in (im in england btw). Most of my clan has now gotten in (all from eu and also played original apb). Anyway, gotta go, APB is calling me. :)

For the selection method - the key is to get a really broad selection of players. So we have people in the beta with crap machines, fantastic machines and everything in between, which is the whole purpose of it. Generally after removing ineligible players, and gotten a range of different spec machines, we have favored those who were first to complete the application (not just submitting their original "interest" email, but actually applying) and have also generally favored the US (since that's where the current servers are). Once the EU stuff is up, that will of course be reversed (now we will push everyone in the EU to play on the EU realm).

ReplyDeleteI had recieved the first key and submitted my data, then waited checking my email every few days..
A few days ago i relized that the original "key" had gone to my junk mail (spam) box, which is set to auto delete every day. Thus my origianl "key" was deleted probly right after I submitted my info.
So if I had been sent an invite and it had been routed to my spam box, it would have been deleted..
So my question is, is there a way to check if you got an invite,., say in my profile page or something?
Also. I knoticed that my profile page here is not the same as my profile page on the main GF forum.
Giving a key for one IP isn't a good idea at all. My husband and I both played original APB beta, and applied for g1 APB beta. Neither of us have received an invite yet either, but I know within time we should get one. So, people in our situation would not receive multiple keys if they did it through IP one key only. I think the best bet would be to give everyone a limited time to reply to the email, and sign into the game. Those who don't sign into game with the beta key should be removed off the list, and replacement keys should be sent out. Atleast that way there isn't keys just laying around not being used.

All you have to do is go to there website, look for "GamersFirst LIVE" and download it. Once downloaded and installed they will give you a selection of games including the Closed Beta. Download and install that, abd then try to log on. If you're sucsessful you have been accepted.
Only problem with that is the error going around so this method, will useful, might not be 100% useful. Hope this helped
@LeJohn if you sign into the forums and don't have access to the Closed-Beta section, then you haven't been accepted yet. There is no key to get access, once you submit your information you just have to wait until they activate you account.THe email is to just let you know it was activated.

ReplyDelete@jordan, Thanks, found my problem, I bought and played Sword 2 when it went gold as well as 9 dragons ao I already had a GF account for years, My APB account was tied to my RTWs account so I actually have 3 GF accounts, created before the games went Ftp and transfered to GF. The problem was logging into the right account, the one tied to APBR not the rest of the old GF accounts.....

For anyone that would like to check to see if they were accepted to close beta without having to download the game, just log into the forum if you can see the hidden close beta forum post you are in. It's as EZ as that.

ReplyDeleteAll jokes aside, i can only take so much. I (like many others) have been wanting to play this game again since it was ripped out of my hands.. now i know people are playing and im not and i cant do anything about it. I just move on to other games until i forget apb is coming back.
I know that I'll end up playing no matter how long I have to wait. I am concerned for the game though. I saw the huge drop in population during APB's original beta way back. Really hope things go a lot better this time around.

So I do take it a little bit personally when "achillez" says we are failing to keep people informed. Huh? Or JohnnyVigilante no longer wants to play?
No problem, we will be happy to kill off your accounts ;)
But in all honesty, I feel I again have to remind people THIS IS CLOSED BETA. We are performance testing, hack testing, system testing, balances testing, crash testing AND the team is also building all the new features not yet released and finishing up the new datacenters closer to your location.
So those who get to wait a bit actually get a progressively better product. In fact, if you are looking for a closer to finished game, I'd suggest you just wait til Open Beta to join, since Closed Beta STILL will have issues and problems and lack core progression items.
So let me remind everyone - this is Closed Beta.
We are thrilled you are excited about the game. So are we. We are so excited we cannot wait to make it even better.

Ok Bjorn, you really have this all wrong. You really don't know how much i actually like this game, and i am extremely upset that i cannot play it. I have been bouncing between other subscription games only to distract me from APB coming back out only because it honestly drives me up a F-ing wall i am not in there playing it. I have waited eagerly for every blog post, and did everything i could as fast as i could to get into CB and have not. Yes im an old APB player from beta and played through live with action time bought constantly - when the game was gone i couldn't believe it and it was like a weird gamer hole that couldn't be filled from any other game. You can understand some people have been waiting MONTHS and MONTHS to play this again, and it doesn't sit easy with me while i lay in bed - knowing others are playing and giving feedback when that's all i want to do.

At first at had the same "feeling" as you, i applied to the beta and everything else about 1 hour after i could because i live in denmark.. anyhow.. i read all these angry comments to Gamersfirst saying they sucked, and they were mad about not getting a key.. look at it this way, if it had all been reversed and we got keys and the others didnt... who do you think would have been raging here? them - yes. G1 cannot have 250.000 people in a Closed Beta to satisfy everyone in the whole goddamn world. Bjorn told us that there is 25.000 beta testers currently playing. And accorting to my friends there is still a lot of errors and mistakes in the game. i personally am a "great" Getaway driver, due to my 12 year experience in Racing Games, but they say the cars are wierd, and cannot be controlled. So if i dont get in the closed beta (which i hope i do, but wont go insane if i dont) I will definelty be in the Open Beta, and hopefully, everything works at that time, and everything will be Awesome! :) Have a nice day

I have been in the RTW beta too and have been chosen as a beta tester while the game was out to do further testing....
and when it was away I have been like shit
I'm going to miss this game
since it's really a unique game and not comparable with other games.
Yes it seems a bit like GTA IV or so but it's different to it in most parts.
Which doesn't feed this "hole"(the way you called it)
I'm so eager to play this game, my friend got accepted for the US Server(we are from europe though) and he didn't know the game b4 I told him some weeks ago.....
And I'm waiting for more and more invites and just not getting accepted :/
Not to say the devteam ain't doing a good job.
I really have to say that TechMech is doing a real good job on sharing information about updates and stuff and I don't blame anyone for this, but I really can't hold it anymore.^^

I actually dont understand why it takes so long time to get the game online again, it was a finished game before, its not totally new. Sure you bring new things into it but i dont understand why you need to do so many fixes and need to change the balance of all weapons, for me the weapons were balanced when i played APB before it was closed...

Are you kidding me? The reason people are pissed off is because old school players paid CASH to buy the game and paid more MONEY to keep playing every month. Where is the priority for the people who have actually PAID to play the original game?????? How about priority for those who had original beta?? or pre-purchase collectors edition?? Those are the people are SHOULD be in the beta, not the idiots who saw your stupid post first. Get it straight.
I played APB since it died out. People have been getting like 3 of there accounts activated and I still don't have 1 beta acc. Very disappointing.

ReplyDeletewake up. its been said a million times that u gave money to RTW. and APB does NOT belong to RTW anymore. so basicly ur money went down the drain. so has ur priority. to be honest, even tho i beta tested RTW APB and played the game, i think new players should go in first. since they dont really know what they are doing, they are most likely to catch some bugs out :)

I also was one of those that played APB from beta and was partying in the Social District when the pulled the plug (I had reupped my account 2 weeks before). So I understand the frustration some here are showing and I also know several people including my son and daughter in law that I introduced to APB and urged then to apply for the CB get in while I have been sidelined.
Those that only played APB for a short while got a taste for it and are chomping at the bits for more, however those of us that played from the start knew and posted on the RTW forums what all needed to be fixed. I remember posting that the N-tec, OBC and a few others needed to be balanced and that pistols should never be able to counter snipe HVRs as these were game killing issues that needed to be addressed, though they were not the main cause of APB's demise they were nails in the coffin.
Just to let you understand, I installed then APBR CB from the GF launcher and every morning I check to see if it will let me in( then I check my email and a standard routine ), and I will happily do so until May, June or even July IF it means that the issues we raised this time last year are fixed. I would rather wait and play the game we all know APBR can become than to jump in now and deal with the issues APB had.
There only suggestion(s) I can and will make is; keep working on it GF, the missions still need to be fixed, the weapons are getting there, and new districts need to be developed. However I would also suggest you create a normal playing server with the stuff that's working and a "test" server for the balancing the new stuff, that way the game can come on line sooner, we can play sooner and you can start recouping some of what you spent sooner. It is easier to add stuff from a test server than to try and add it from a dev server.
For those of you that dont understand just how bad it was, this was a screen shot I took. I was one guy running four (4) bots, I talked to him and he showed me how he could have the bots move as a unit. And when i say bots I mean, they were auto everything.

Lol you guys act like you're gonna die if you don't play the game, G1 doesn't even have to allow any of you guys play the closed beta, but they wanted to be generous and allow regular users to join the closed beta. And they get bashed by other users because they didn't get an invite lol. Get a girlfriend and wait patiently until you get invited. I promise everything will be fine.

If GF wants the very best understanding on how to fix the game they should be using OLD PLAYERS because they are the ones who knew what the game once was. How are new players going to understand that? Also Bjorn, i mean to disrespect. I fully understand the hardwork you put into this as well as the rest of GF. But being an old player, seeing all these noobs getting priority over me sends me over my limit... (most of them are just playing to play also, they dont care what you need to fix)
