So two hours ago we enabled another 5,000 accounts to access the game and the closed beta and the notifications are on their way to the users. This time it was done on a first-completed-application basis.
We will let this test now run through the weekend to see how the game looks by Monday. Also we had scattered reports of slow download speeds from the CDN providers, so we have now also enabled the game to be downloaded from our normal GamersFirst LIVE installer that you can get off the main site. That installer uses a combination of CDN and P2P and will be significantly faster to complete the install (and it also lets you pause, resume and cancel the download).
So if you received a Beta Application Key at some point and you are now just waiting around for "your wave", feel free to use this tool to install your copy as well so you are ready to go when you account access is enabled. However - if you did NOT get a key we strongly recommend that you do NOT YET install the game, since Open Beta's installer will be structurally quite different (and would trigger a large update if you go from Closed to Open Beta).

2 friends have received a key, they have played something like 20 hours on the old apb and won't probably play a lot to the beta. i had 2 players with something like 280 level each and i still wait. i m sure i m not the only one, but i don't anderstand your choice

And also, how about giving us dates instead of guessing times and we hardly even get that? Omg...i'm never gonna get accepted. I put in my application in the afternoon when the keys were sent out.....please could u send them more keys out in a different method, like last to first? This helps both me and the EU players(was mentioned before that EU had disadvantage cause they would get keys in the evening or night).

Even downloading the game Through the GamersFirst Live program seems to have a very slow download speed was fine at 800kb for a few min then died down to 1kb, Im not capped or anything like that I tried downloading a game patch and it downloaded fine at 800kb without huge decrease then tried G1 again and still very slow download is occuring. Also a is installing ,Pando Media Booster ive read up and supposedly this its spyware?

Can you post the ports used for the download? It seems a lot of people may be having issues, especially if you see intro spikes of 800kb then a drop to nothing.

i am actually downloading this on 2 pc's and the better one is now running at 8 k/s and this crappy one is maxing out around 800 k/s ??? hopefully this one finishes soon an i can just copy an move it my self

Being first does not necessarily correlate with your dedication to bug testing and available play time. Of course, it does look like you are just stress testing at the moment.

ReplyDeleteWould also like to take the time to mention that all this begging about getting an invite just proof you should probably not me in the closed beta in the first place. Why? Cause close beta is for testing, not gaming and you all seem more worried about getting to game and have fun.
I'm an old APB player from sweden who has been doing alot of betas and testings but its totally fine I havent recieved an invite.
Also you people who are sad about not getting an invite, you guys should know that stress testing servers are what OPEN betas are for, not closed so yes, its invites only. Should be happy that even this many has gotten an invite at all (sure they could spread the invites more but this is of their choosing i suppose).
Makes me a bit sad tho seeing people who dont even know where to publish their bug findings gets to test ;p (ingame or post pictures on forums would be a nice way to start).
To people who got their invites, good luck with the testing and G1 thanks once again for picking up this great title, now do your best with it, the game has a great future in the hands of the right people.

ReplyDeleteIt's rather a shame that anybody is let in, just in order of form completion. Just because someone was around at the time it came shouldn't mean they get to play first.
ReplyDeleteI understand that when you are accepting this many people at once, you can't read everyones applications, but in my case, it has put me at a large disadvantage, despite being an original closed beta tester.
Googlemail's spam filter had decided my application key was spam, so I didn't see it for almost a day. Quite frustrating.
Anyway, small complaint aside, the game looks amazing, looking forward to every blog post, and progress looks good!

I chose that server thinking that they speak more Spanish there!
but some people have told me that this affect my ping! and then to Venezuela to Europe is far away! U.S is much closer!

ReplyDeleteThat live downloader thing is really crappy. I get like 1/2 to 3/5 of my connection speed compared to regular HTTP downloads and BitTorrent.

ReplyDeleteAs i can see on these APB: Reloaded - Vehicle Showcase videos there is a limit on FPS "30" , it used to be 60 and was fine.
SO did they change it ? If so isn't look like freezing and getting anoying in fights ?
My opinion fps Max should be around 75 , although i guess you need a good computer to get 75fps stable... so lets say it MUST be 60!!
I hate this. Since I connected an internet cable to my computer my ping has really got lower and now I´m scared that I´ll never get in to the closed beta because when I filled out the "redeem key message" my ping was so much higher.

ReplyDeleteoh and just wanned to say that i got in and when i finish dling il play it (wave 1 (said in mail) eu (got mail and instructions and everything what i need to know yesterday)) :D xD i was dling it yesterday and everything was ok but it was slow and then i turned off my pc and today when i wanned to dl it said failed to start transfer and now i fixed it and everything it ok now. now im dling at 650 kb/s and before that error and uninstalling i had 50 sometimes 100 kb/s so speed is better and its dling faster now (that pando is bad thing so uninstall it xD).
